Default 1999 mustang no oil pressure/ camshaft code

Have a 1999 mustang 3.8l 5 speed
150k miles
All stock besides cat back and cai
Take great care of the car had it since it was almost new.
Change oil every 3k with ford oil.

Was driving home after dinner when i noticed my car bogged down once i shifted 3rd to 4th. Thought the tranny was acting up and stopped for a red light where it seemed to "bog" again and thats when i noticed i had no oil pressure! so i shut it off, ran out and checked to see if i was leaking oil or whatnot and the oil level was at normal so i started it back up and pulled off the road, and shut it off.

Got it towed home and checked the enginecodes which read p0340 which accoring to the handbook is the camshaft postioning sensor.

Now with that all said what could be the problem?
I thought oil pump at first but why would that code come up?

Any help is appreciated

It is the cam synchronizer. Pull out the snychronizer and sensor to see if the gear is worn. Most likely, it is.......

can you replace just the synchronizer gear?

Would this cause no/low oil pressure?
Thanks

This happened to my car also. In my case with a "cheap" replacement synchronizer, the pin that secures the camshaft drive gear sheared. So that it stopped turning the oil pump shaft thus no oil pressure. Replaced synchronizer with a more expensive unit. Both units came with new position sensor. I chose to use original Ford sensor. Keeping fingers crossed that this problem does not return too soon.

So i tore it all apart and found the gear on the synchronizer is pretty badly worn/chipped so thats definitely the problem.

What im wondering is if the gear on the cam itself is ok, or do i have to replace that?

Thanks

The gear on the cam should be fine.......
