2002 Mustang V6 automatic is "putting". What should I look for? Last night I was driving my 2002 V6 automatic Mustang to a friends house and on the way he and I had smelled what we thought was burning transmission fluid; shortly after it died. I instantly restarted the car after putting it in park and once I had shifted to drive, it drove only a few feet before shutting off again. So, once my friend and I had pushed it into his driveway and popped the hood I turned the car on and my serpentine belt had started whining but this surely wasn't the cause of my car just shutting off. Well, once we had checked all of the fluids it was discovered that the transmission fluid was virtually empty. So, I parked my car for the evening. This morning I returned with some transmission fluid and WD-40, The WD-40 ceased the whining of my serpentine and the ATF made my car run. After a few test rides around the block I decided it was safe to bring home but, on my drive home as I accelerated to fifty-five my car would start "putting" around forty-five. This putting only happened twice out of seven acceleration test to see if it happened consistently. This leads me to think that it could also be my feul injectors or feul pump. I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should look for? Or, any advice on how to remedy this? It'd be awesome if anyone can help! |
