I was thinking about junking my 97 3.8 for a newer 3.8 with split port or possibly the 3.9L. Then I read something about a 4.2L swap. So I looked up some specs, the 4.2L in a 2000 F-150 only has like 10 more HP than the early 00's mustang 3.8's. So I was just wondering if the 4.2L is even worth the extra cubic inches. Has anyone here done a 4.2L swap? The 4.2L sounds kinda gutless to me.
If your hard pressed to swap your engine then just go for the 4.6 in the GT's. There are plenty of wrecked stangs out there you can pull motors from. On that note, most of us here in this forum are pretty big fans of rebulding. Though I'll be honest I don't know what goes into switching to a split port design. Just know if you rebuild it, you can throw some fun toys in there. Heads, cam, forged internals (Mmm beastly) or even a turbocharger.

What you need to do is rebuild with performance parts.

I would suggest a full rebuild with split port heads, port and polished intake, a good cam, and a 4.3 stroker kit.

ohh now youre talkin.. got me droolin all over the keyboard just thinking about havin that done
You might want to junk/sell/part out the whole car and just buy a GT, for the difference in price you'd have a whole lot more and a better platform to work from...also a car can be financed, rebuilds need cash or a long line of credit card credit (not good)...not to mention alot of downtime is the norm which mandates the need for another car to drive while you redo the Stang...

sponsorship? For what? Unless you run your car in NMRA or any other sanctioned racing then there is no such thing as sponsorships. Yes they may cut you some deals cuz you've spent so much f-ing money with them. LOL
