Most people around here seem to prefer the sound of an H-pipe on the V6 compared to that of an X-pipe. Just know that there are pros & cons associated with each. Typically, the H- will produce a deeper muscle car sound, but won't produce as much HP/Torque as an X-pipe. The X- will provide better exhaust flow (i.e., better performance increase), but you won't have that low deep rumble as with an an H-pipe. I wouldn't recommend the Y-pipe conversion kit you mentioned earlier. If it's not a true H-, X-, or divorced set of pipes, you're selling yourself short.
I switched to Magnaflow mufflers & upgraded my dual side-exit exhaust from a Y- to an X- 2 weeks ago & I'm lovin' the feel & the HP increase. The sound is a little bit subdued now, but I haven't gone WOT yet. So we'll see. A 8.8 swap with 3.90 gears & a tune is next. I can't wait!
