Default 2000 Mustang V6 3.8L Fuel Problems

I've been having problems with my mustang drinking down more gas than it should be. Recently, I've changed the fuel filter, had the spark plugs/wires changed, and have cleaned the MAF filter. She still seems to running a lil bit slugglish and using more gas than I think she should be. She doesn't seem to have the pep a mustang should have, especially when I give her the power to do so. Any ideas what could be causing this and what an inexpensive fix may be? I really can't afford to put her in the shop right now.

yes, plugs are gapped correctly.
CEL is off.

I need to check the air filter. I bought the CAI from American Muscle earlier this year. Do those air filters need to be replaced or just cleaned out?

ok, cleaned the air filter, however, it wasn't that dirty. Gonna see if it's going to make a difference. If not, any other ideas what might be cause my mustang to be using gas like it's out of style?
