Default 2001 Mustang V6 Traction Control

Having an issue with my mustang, the traction control system light comes on and my car will not accelerate. Sometimes it does it on the low end around 30 mph, but definately bogs down and will not accelerate in fourth. Push gas, no response. Any ideas on what this might result in?

Are you using, or have your changed tires to a staggered look?

sounds like a wheelspeed sensor has failed.

try turning off the traction control completely, and then see if you can accelerate.if you can, then the pcm is sensing wheelspin on one of the wheels, and cutting engine power to slow you down.

mix/matched tire sizes can have the same result, because different size tires spin at different speeds, and if the computer senses that 1 or more wheels are spinning faster than the rest, then it steps in and reduces engine power.

normally, if i have a car with a problem like this, then i hook up a scanner to the car and go drive it, and monitor each of the 4 wheelspeed sensors to see which one is reading out of whack. not sure how you would go about testing this yourself...

You can get chips for Mustangs but, what you really want is a hand held tuner. They cost about $100 more but they can do so much more. For one they don't need to be sent to a shop to retuned. You can also read and clear engine codes, correct speedo for new gears or tire sizes, etc.
Check out Americanmuscle.com and look into their SCT tuner with free custom tunes.
