I've stripped the oil pan bolt

2002 V6. I stripped the bolt. Apparently the dealership mechanic tightened it way too much. The bolt is currently almost rounded due to the frustration mixed with the humidity of the day and the nagging of the ex. How do i get it out now? Any recommendations? Thanks

You will need an "easy out" bit. This is desined to drill into the bolt and grab it and hopefully back it out. Good luck and patience will be needed as well as some wd40 etc. Good luck. Also buy a quality easy bit, nothing cheap.

License and registration please.

id buy a couple different easy outs... start smallest (within reason). and id use a punch to nick a little indent in the bolt so your easy out doesn't run all over.

The big pair of vice grips might work but be careful not to mess the pan up. Craftsman has removers for stripped bolts but they aren't cheap.

I thought about putting the stripped bolt back on! It was a hell of a work out trying to break it loose!
