Default Traction Control Problems

I recently bought a 2000 Mustang v6 5-speed. What has bothered me is I have never heard my wheels screach. Not that I want to do it often, I just want to be able to. My friend told me it might be because of my traction control system, but I am not even sure if I have it. I took a flashlight and shined it at my gauges and there is that light with the screaching wheel, but I have never seen it on. I read further into it and learned that there is a switch to disable it. If my car did infact have traction control, would there be a switch? I mean, would I have traction control and not be able to turn it off? Where would the switch be if I had one, ive looked all over and can't find it?

I've got an 02 and the switch is below the radio next to the fog light dummy and the defrost switch. It says "trac off" or something like that. Sounds like you aren't revving up your engine enough before dumping the clutch. That'll spin the tires.

I don't have fog lights, the defrost switch for me is above my radio on my AC (and rear defrost on the left side of the steering wheel under the headlights), and the only thing in front of my shifter is the cigarette lighter.

Could it be possible that I had traction control and wouldn't be able to turn it off?

If I didn't have traction control would the light be in with my gauges anyway?

Then you don't have trac control. I sat in a 2K 5speed when I was shopping for my car and the button is in the same place....right in front of the shifter, exactly opposite the lighter.

No.

Yes. The gauges are mass-produced....they don't make one set for each available option.

I don't know if this helps but my 94 doesn't have traction control and there is no button, so I guess it didin't come on you car but yeah, rev the car up and drop the clutch, if a civic can do it, you can too
