Ticking Noise on Rear Passenger Side of my 2000 V6 Mustang Engine

hello ima first timer but i finally got my first project car for a nice price which is a 2000 mustang v6 it has a 140,000 miles on it. now im definetly no mechanic but should i start saving for another engine mean its definetly quiet it has a real slight ticking noise (not a knock) but also i dont know how a stock mustang engine suppose to sound

if you need me too i can post a youtube video of it if needed any help is appreciated thanks

also is a mustang a good choice to pick to learn how to do repairs on your own so a can break away from those expense repair shops lol

Welcome to AFM. This site has been a great source of info for me. Not sure what to tell you about needing an engine change (my guess is that you will need to provide more info), but I think the mustang is a great car to learn on. Before my v6 mustang, I had done basic stuff like oil changes, break pad replacement, etc... Now I've just completed my first clutch change, and it was very successful (after getting some help on this site). Next will be the limited slip diff. This car is by far the easiest one I've ever worked on. Rear wheel drive makes drive-train repair work much easier than front wheel drive cars, and the v6 gives plenty of room to work under the hood.

+1 RWD is nice to play with and work on. And the V6 def has lots of room in the engine bay!

I forget what the ticking noise is caused by, but it's a common issue on the New Edge's. I'm sure someone will chime in with the right answer...

Probably the exhaust manifold, these mustangs are notorious for having the manifold crack. I fixed mine earlier this year, mine was cracked on the drivers side.

Fender-well CAI, 2.25 mandel bent dual exhaust, dynomax super turbo mufflers -Traded in but missed.

as long as its running right it wont be a problem.. itll just make the noise.. if it cracks further and u end up with a huge hole that's letting air in and throwing off the 02 sensor then you'll notice the engine running kinda funny and thats when you should definitely replace it.. but just as a small crack, it isnt a huge deal

Mine was cracked for years before it bugged me enough to get it fixed. It only cost $140 for repairs. Would have been less ifI had pulled the manifold myself.
