Default speedometer calibration

Just put new gears(4.10) in my 99 auto, Love them, But I need to now how/where to go to fix my speedometer. Last year I also put 17in rims on it. So its way off.

You just might want to look into getting a chip programed for your car.

rpm-mustangs is a great place to deal with. you may want to check out their roller rockers too. 350 for adjustable's. They have some of the BEST customer service i've come across.

You may want to try a Speed Cal from Dallas Mustang:

Your local Ford Dealer can recalibrate your speedometer with little difficulty.

I wouldn't worry about the chip unless you've got major modifications (or are planning major modifications).

So changing the U/D pulley, adding a CAI, a cat back system, and 17" rims wouldn't justify getting a chip burned? I am at the point where I'm getting my gears installed and I need to do something about the speedo as well. If I can get away with having Ford do it for 65 bucks, then that's a whole lot better than 300 for a chip. What do you guys recomend? BTW, I have a 2k AOD.

your 17 inchers are +1. They have no effect on your gearing.

Your UD pulleys have no effect on your tune.

Your CAI and Cat back are withing the parameters of the computer. -You need to disconnect the battery and re-connect so that the computer can adjust, but it's not a large enough difference to justify a chip (IMO).

If you're planning on going further (a new cam, lifters, rockers, etc. Go ahead and get the chip. Otherwise, you're not going to get much better than the original chip, unless you want to switch to 91+ octane fuel.
