Exclamation AC died today HELP!!!

its my first time posting here, i've been reading the forum for a while and my car has run into a problem that i cant seem to figure out. my car is a 96 v6.

after ~2min of running the air coming from my vents went from cold to hot, the AC stopped working. I got out and opened the hood to take a look and it seems that the compressor isnt cycling on anymore. I had similar problems with another vehicle in which the clutch went out so i tappee the clutch a few times and this didnt seem to kick it back on.

I dont know how to check the cycling switch or any other AC switches, any ideas? I can also head a thud about every 2 seconds that doesnt appears to be coming from around the air cleaner assy? PLEASE help me, every time i take my car in some pace i get raped out of my money, i'd liek to solve this my self.

thanks

if the clutch isnt kicking in.. the least expensive way is to just replace your pressure cycling switch.. other than that the entire clutch may have gone which would be compressor, dryer, and accumulator. Also make sure you have the proper amount of refrigerant in there. R134 i assume unless you downgraded.

You probably have a leak, my 95 developed one on the pressure switch itself.

It had some rust and wasnt sealing. Remove it and inspect it.

A way to find leaks is to get air into the system prior to refill. You can use an air compressor connected to the DRIVERS SIDE A/C hose.

Best way would be to take it to A/C shop.

another question, if i remove the cycling switch is that going to release the 134? or can it be replaced w/o discharging the system?

You can remove it, it wont empty the system.

To test: Just unplug the connector on the switch and bridge both terminals with a wire (on the connector).

I know this isnt the newest of posts but Im looking for help on the a/c topic..... First Ive got no a/c with it hooked up normaly. Iv'e replaced the cycling switch and nothing, but the engine fan comes on as though it was on. Now heres where we get tec.... Theres a purple wire and black wire on the switch. Jumping them gives me no power to the compressor. Taking the ppl wire and putting it on the blk wire on compressor....Vaula! It comes on.... This is bad and I know that to leave the compressor run all the time... does this sound like the ccrm? To my understanding the clutch cycling switch wires go to the ccrm, located on the radiator overflow bracket on the left on 94-96's. Then the wires go out to the compressor. Apparently theres a a/c clutch control in the ccrm along with the fan control? Now is this part interchangable with other 94-96's or are there different numbers with diff. values? Any sugestions would be helpful.... Sorry so long just wanted to be discriptive.......
Thank you
