Default How do you turn off SES light?

I want to know how I can turn off the SES light off on my Mustang.

Getting ready to sell, and car runs fine. Trying not to scare away potential buyers.

Some auto parts stores will hook up a diagnostics tool to your car and retrieve the SES code for you for free (Autozone). They will also look it up in their books to tell you what problem the system is reporting. Then you can either fix the problem yourself or take it in to be serviced. Your public library might have a collection of service manuals that might help clear up some how-to's.

Or...you could disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. The SES light will stay off until the car runs long enough to report the problem again.

Every time I've had to deal with these lights it's had to do with the emissions. Either a bad O2 sensor or some other sensor that needed replaced.

I read in my manual that disconnecting the battery could cause it to run rough until the computer figures out what all the settings are supposed to be. I'm with revmaynard02, get the code, but fix the problem, don't just clear it.
If I bought a used car and the light came on a short time later, I'd be more than a little upset, and I'm sure you would too.

Thanks for the input guys!
