Default Service Engine Soon Light Mayhem

Alright, I didn't go to Autozone yet, but I'm wondering. On my 2001 V6 Stang the service engine soon light just came on with approx 47k on the odometer. Has anyone else had problems around there and if so what was it? I didn't go through a large puddle of water (which screwed up a sensor last time) so I'm not sure at all what this is. I was just driving and all of a sudden it was on. Gotta love it how cars treat ya when you sore 'em for the winter... :-/ Oh Well... Any ideas guys and gals?

Ok, first off I should of proofread that one before submiting it, that should be store them not sore them. On the other hand. This might have something to do with my Service Engine Soon light comming on...

-My car has had a really weird idle since I put on the Cold Air Intake and Cat-Back Exhaust, it seems like it's going to die, then all of a sudden revs upto 1k rpm.

-Once in a while the car will just die when I push the clutch in.

I'm not sure when this all started since I had my car off the roads for a while when I modified it then hardly drove it last year. I do know that my Service Engine Soon light came on tonight while driving after several days of the car doing this.

Take your car to Autozone and they'll look up the SES code for you. It's probably a bad (or disconnected) emissions sensor.

I took it to Autozone and they told me that it says "Bank 2 Lean" does this mean that I'd have a bad O2 sensor or what could it be? I figure that ODBII would be able to read me a bad O2 sensor code so I'm not sure. I was told by a mechanic friend of mine it could be a Vacuum Hose or something, any ideas?

I'm almost certain that it's an emissions sensor.
I'm guessing, but it sounds as though it's pointing to a fuel mixture sensor. "Lean" as in fuel mixture is too lean. Not sure.

Suggest that you call the local Ford repair shop and tell them the code number and description. They should be able to tell you over the phone where to look to correct the problem. If they can't (or won't) volunteer any info, call a few mechanics in the area. You're bound to get some info from somebody.

After reading your post again, you may want to trace the wiring harnesses on your CAI and make sure that you don't have some wires pinched or a sensor came unplugged.

I had an O2 sensor trigger the SES light on my wife's van. It turned out that one of the wires leading from the sensor was rubbing against the edge of the heat shield and wore through the coating to the wire, shorting it out. Replacing the sensor fixed the problem and slipping a spare piece of rubber hose over the wires will prevent recurrance.

It could be that you may have a faulty 02 sensor or something is contributing to cause one side of your engine to run lean.(not enough fuel). Could be a vacuum leak from the intake or a hose. Have it throughly diagnosed to pinpoint your concern.
