So I got pulled over yesterday for my brake lights being out. I examined them today and determined that one of the wires going to the brake pedal was not connected (the blinker and hazards worked, but not the brakes). I took it apart, fixed it, and reconnected it. Now I still have a problem. While the third brake light works, as well as the other two, the don't work completely. The two main brake lights work, but only the outside 2 bulbs of each side (the ones that blink during the turn signal). The innermost bulb of each side isn't on when the brakes are pressed. I have no idea what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

did you check to see if the bulbs are burnt out?

I checked the brake bulbs and they are fine. It is a 98 coupe 6cyl.

Could those inner bulbs be for the park lamps?

I use to have a 98 also and i cant remember but i thought that the inner two didnt come on when braking...i might be wrong but turn your lights on tonight and see if they come on then? just a suggestion, i aint as smart as these other fellers.

All of the lights come on when I turn on the driving lights. I guess it is just the outside lights when I brake.

only the 2 outermost lamps on each side (4 total) are supposed to come on when you hit your brakes or put the turn signal on. all six light up only when you turn on your tail lights. so if that's whats happening, then your lights are working fine.
