Thanks in advanceHelp

I know my 351Windsor but this new V6 will be a total mystery. I will need lots of help to keep it within California Smog Regs and the Ford Life Time Guaranty What simple mods can give worthwhile horses. I have heard that these V6s had problems now the auto trannies are needing more glue. I posted in the other forum for help too before I realized this is where its at. This will e my first new car since I bought my 69 in 69. My 69 is my total hot rod this will be my daily ride rod but I want it quick. What is with these governors I'm hearing about. Regular oil or synthic? Please keep the good advice coming.

If you want to stay away from Smog Regs then don't touch the engine. too much I think a CAI is fine, but it doesnt add signifigant horses. I don't think it will void the warrenty unless your dealer is a dick.

Do gears, and a T lock, you want amazing punch at the line go with 4.10 gears, and a t lock and possibly a tranny cooler because it's gonna shift quick. but you wont be able to go very fast on the highway.

you can also do 3.73 gears wont get as much punch off the line but at least you be able to do highway speeds a little better.

I dunno if these other things void warrenty on the engine, but you can do Underdrive pullies or roller rockers. they will help free up some horses on the engine. I know Cali is strict. I just dunno how strict, I'm from Jersey different world lol.

But some people will give out loads of info here without a doubt, good luck with the 04

Depends on what you want to spend . . . What's your budget?

According to federal law your warranty will be in effect as long as your modifications do not significantly alter the wear and tear of non-modified parts.

Soooo . . . getting a chip and running regular gas will damage your engine, and the engine will not be covered. but a CAI, K&N FIPK II is the best (9-12 hp), does nothing to alter the wear and tear of the engine, so while your old intake will no longer be covered (Of COURSE! You removed it, and you can't drive in and ask for a new one) the rest of the components are.

Underdrive pulleys EXTE ND accessory life, so it does nothing that would affect the warranty, but Ford will not replace your old pulley and belt.

Go to SEMA.org, for more information on the Magnussen Act, if you have any questions.

definitely use sythetics (engine and trans). they give you better mpg and maybe a couple of hp. with a lifetime warranty i doubt you'll be able to add anything that won't void your warranty.

but like dewd said, gears and t-lok are a definate must if you want very quick accelration, but i think you'll need a chip to calibrate your speedo and trans ecu....???i don't know, i never owned an auto. so i can't help you much there. a 42% udp will definately free up some hp according to what i've read (i'm close to buying it), cai....oh yeah, an aluminum drive shaft gives a very slight but noticed improvement in acceleration.

aluminum flywheel, but that's kinda expensive.

what else?.......

ahh Stangcrazy you are right, yeah he will need to recalibrate, sorry man I guess that kinda pushes gears out of the question. But I dunno if it modifies the engine gas and fuel ratios if you don't want it to, could they possiblt just set up a chip that recals the speedo and not have that void the warrenty?

But yeah it seems UDPs are good. for a start. Hell man that warrenty has to go sometime, want to mod the car, don't limit yourself so much just different consequences. but hell if you did everything right and professionally nothing should go wrong, just saying that doesnt mean nothing will go wrong

Default Thank you

Everyone out there thanks

Thanks for all the advice. I've never delt with smog regs before. The K&N is good concept just like my on my 351W. Wouldn't there a duel FlowMaster set up that would be legal and give some hp?

if you give single to dual exhaust you can gain a few horsies, you wont feel it but it'll be there plus the engine will be breathing and you'll keep the v6 backpressure. but if you do big engine mods IE Supercharger then do an H or X Pipe but not many major engine mods and do an H pipe exhaust you could lose backpressure and loose horses. :\

Flowmasters systems are usually overpriced but in my opinion they have the best sounding muffler once it gets broken in, i broke mine in finally and they sound bad ass, not reall loud anymore, throaty and deep i should get a sound record of it.

Gt take off with flowmaster mufflers is a good way to go or custom pipes with flow master mufflers which ever it's up to you

and you're very welcome welcome to the world of six bangers
