Yes somebody who knows what tey are talking about in California please answer that question for us, very , very important.
I hate localisms. I would imagine:
Free FLow = no restrictions.
If you have a custom computer program, you can run them.
OBD computers need backpressure. Most cams need backpressure too.
Unless free flow = less restriction.
In which case it's your standard exhaust upgrade, with an advertising twist.

Uh, that sounded awesome KC......but it still went over my head.......
How about our V6ER's computer system? Are free flowing exausts something worth while on V6er's?

I've heard that going with some exhaust systems on the V6 will throw a CEL... The V6 is suppose to need more back pressure then the V8. That's just what I've heard.
As far as low restriction exhaust systems go. Pretty much all after market mufflers flow better then stock. With that said, pretty much all aftermarket mufflers are lower restriction mufflers.

Are lower restriction mufflers desireable for V6's?

YES! ALWAYS!
To a point.
On a carb system, the MOST power is with open exhaust.
Computers are a bit more finicky.
They need feedback to process FI schedules. Without backpressure, they cannot direct the fuel injectors to make the maximum power.
One of my uncles was a bootlegger (there are still dry counties in Kansas). He had a switch that would "dump the mufflers on his GTO when evading the cops.
He ran Thrush mufflers (which, at the time, were considered good flowing mufflers).
When the switch was flipped, it switched to open headers, which gave him the power he needed to evade arrest.
That car was amazing. It had a bunch of other stuff, too. but it's not relevant to the discussion.

Thanks KC, THAT'S GOOD KNOWLEDGE. I understand it better now. The GTO story was getting good man! Why did you stop!
I had images of "Walking Tall" going through my head. (the original) Great movie...
