Hey guys, I just got a salvage (yeah I know). But it's a 2001 model with only 25K miles on it. I think it might've been in a T-Bone accident...but anyway. There's this hissing sound that appears to come through the A/C vents, even when the A/C is off (but not when the engine is off). I was wondering if any of you guys could help me with that.
Also, when the engine is cooling down after being driven, there is an intermittent popping/fizzling sound that originates somewhere near the engine (possibly pipes?). It lasts for several seconds every so often. It's not like anything I've heard before for any car. Any suggestions?

popping is normal, it's the metal contracting. The sizzle is probably water hitting a pipe or something else hot from your AC.
Hissing sound is probably a vacuum leak.

After running the AC Ford has a resiover deposit in the firewall that drips out condensation. but through fords crazy set up that condensation deposit is right above the cats and it drips on the hot cats resulting in a hissing/sizzleing sound, you can look at this , drive around for a bit ac on and all and come home park get up and look under you car from your passenger side.
Awesome, thanks you guys. I will go check out with a mechanic about the vacuum link. I popped the hood actually when I heard the noises, so that's why I didn't see it...I have to look UNDER the car.
the a/c condensor draining pipe.....drips onto my cats...anyone that drives in my mustang when we get out they ALWAYS say "nick i think somethin is leaking" and i hafta explain

And it leaves a nasty red mess on the garage floor because the water and the heat clean off any crap that gets burned on the cats while you drive it. WHY FORD WHY! Just a little gutter or something!
ok, yesterday i heard it when i walked over to the passenger side, but i didn't used my a/c.
Did you use your defroster? That'll cycle the A/C...
The hissing sound coming from the vents could also be when you turn the selector knob the doorways under the dash are operated by vacuum... Is that what you are hearing?
no, i'm talking about when i shut the eng off and got out of my car and walked to my house. i'm pretty sure it's the cats....i just stated that cause i never payed attention to it before...
