Default If bigger is badder is smaller gooder

I have been interested in the debate about exhaust pipe size when installing duals on a V-6. From what I read the 2 1/2 inch pipe is maybe too big. The 2 1/4 inch seems the most recommended. My question is what will a 2" pipe do for the performance. Will it be better than the 2"? Why?

anything smaller that what the factory installed will decrease performance. a smaller diameter pipe is not allowing the engine to expell it's exhaust gases effeciently. the idea behing going to big is that you loose the necessary back pressure needed to help maintain torque. but you increase hp, slightly, becuase the gases leave the combustion chamber quicker...allowing the engine to breathe better....something along those lines. it's kinda like slightly pinching your nose when you exhale.

Not quite.

when you switch to dual exhaust, two 2" diameter pipes will STILL outflow a single pipe up to a (I think) 3.25 inches.

I'd hav eto run the calc equation, and I forget the equation.

so two nostrils flow better than one even with straws in them.

;-)

yeah, except you have a wide open nostril without restriction.

;-)

Put a Mcdonalds straw on one nostril, and two kwik shop straws in two nostrils.

This has turned into the most bizarre thread I have ever read.........

I always find that Burger king straws have the best airflow all round
