KS is more than likely right but let me throw something out there.
I haven't really experienced that sound with my
Stang, but have with my 2000 Focus.
I noticed a hiss every time I shut either door. I later determined it was the actual cabin pressure causing it.
For a number of reasons there can be small air leaks in the door and window seals. All cars have them because there aren't any that are 100% air-tight. When shutting the door it dramatically changes the air pressure in the cabin forcing the air either in or out of the leaks. Depending on the characteristics of the leak, is how you hear the air rushing through it. Usually it subsides with the age of the car and the wearing of the door or window seals.
It's something you don't do anything about unless you start getting water inside during bad weather.
If you discover water leaking in, then congratulations, you've just found your air leak too most likely.
The seal is either bent, folded or bad altogether and needs replacing.
Common on Fords due to the overall lower standard of fit and finish that is more common in ecomomically priced cars.
American-make vehicles are more likely to suffer this because U.S.domestic automobile manufacturers' do not put as big of a priorty on fit and finish due to the prohibited cost of superior quality and greater number of vehicles produced.
The U.S.sells more cars for less and let the more luxurious markets worry about those type of quality issues.
Have you ever closed the door on a Mercedes?
It's a frickin' symphony!
