Default Which mod: gears or pulleys?

On my 2000 manual I already have dual Flowmaster exhaust.... Now I can't decide which to do next---3.73 gears or UD pulleys...... Which would you guys suggest, and what performance differences am I looking at? Much different? And if neither of these aren't the best to go with next, what should it be? I'm looking at the following pulleys: https://www.rpmoutlet.com/ezRetail/s...php?msg_id=591 ... are these the ones to go with? If I get the gears, I know I have to get the gears, but are there any other things I would have to purchase along with them? What about the pulleys? I know with the gears I'm looking at an expensive installation, but about how much? How much does it generally run to install the pulleys?

.. Thanks ......

Edit: With the 3.73 gears, I'm getting more acceleration off the line, but how will my higher speeds be? Is it only on the 4.10 gears that at 65 I'm gonna run 5000, or I'm I looking at the same with the 3.73 gears? If the 3.73 gears run like this, I don't think I want them

I dont know too much about pulleys, but with gears, you will have to get a speedo recal gear, wich isnt much, like 20 dollars, but what I would do if I were you (since I too am thinking about getting 3.73's in my car too), is get a traction lock, I got my gears and t-lock off of ebay for 120.00 out of a wrecked mustang.

I called around to a few shops in my town and the lowest price I got was 800 dollars, but I didnt tell the shop that I had the gears already. Also, I have an automatic, so being that I live in a shitty town, the closest dyno is about 400 miles away, so I have to get a shift kit installed along with the gears to change the shift points, but you dont have to worry about that since you have a manual.

here is a link for how fast you can go at whatever rpm.

Im pretty sure Im not forgetting anything, if I am then Im sure someone will let me know.

Hope this helps you. If you do end up getting the gears installed let me know how they are, Im just trying to save money until I can get mine installed.

gears if you have the money
www.gefracing.com for all your 3.8 gear needs.

There might be a need for a rebuild kit too.

the speed cal is no good on 99+ Mustangs. You have to reprogram the computer.

1) the rpm at highway speeds depends on whether or not you have an automatic transmission. Manuals should go with 3.73s Autos can get away with 4.10s. Your highway gas mileage will suffer. So it's a gift that keeps on giving. -Up to you.

2) UD pulleys are 1 hour of work, so ask your local shops what they charge per hour. $50 is average.

3) you have a 2000 so you will also have to have the computer reporgrammed with shift points and speedometer readings with gears.

4) A gear installer is hard to find, so you'll have to call around. Prices range from $350-1000+, depending in the local competition.

it frees between 15-17 hp, so it's quite noticeable
