Default How to fix my speedo after 3.73 gear install ?

My name is Leland, and I have a 1995 V6 Mustang. When I bought the car there were several modifications already done to the car, including: headers, a flowmaster exaust system, a T-5 transmission, a K&N air filter, and a cool air intake. I recently replaced the stock rear end gears and replaced them with 3.73 richmond gears. It really gets up to speed in a hurry now, but there is one problem. The speedometer is way off. I was just wondering the easiest and cheapest way to adjust/fix the speedometer. Also, I am going to replace the thermostat soon, and I was wondering what you guys thought was the best temperature thermostat to use. I am not even sure what the stock thermostat is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure but I think you need friction modifier, also did you put in a traction lock?

Default How hard is it to install a speedo gear....?

I was wondering if it would be difficult to install a speedo gear by myself, and also, what exactly are a traction lock, and a friction modifier? Thanks for the reply.

I'd let a shop do it all.

A traction lock is a limited slip differential, so all that power isn't transfered to your one wheel it will be distributed to each wheel. Basically it makes your open differential (one wheel rear wheel) to closed differential (two wheel rear wheel)

I forget firction modifier is for the gears when they are installed I think....

Whoever installed your gers may or may have put it in. try doing a power break mash the break and gas and see if both tires brun out. if only one does you dont have a t lock
