Angry what r the symptoms of a bad pcm?

Hey guys I have a 96 mustang 3.8l that im trying to fix right now.i have both running lean codes but i replaced alot of stuff and fixed all the vacume leaks. this is all the stuff i replaced. Egr,dpfe,o2s,maf,uper and lower intake manifold gasket, fuel filter spark plugs, spark plug wires, and the ignition coil. I pretty much replaced everything that would cause the codes the car runs great no problems jus the codes wont stay away. Thats why I was suspecting that the pcm is at fualt that and it never runs the egr monitor. So if you can help me out it would be much apreciated. Sorry if there is already one of these questions posted already.

First of all welcome to AFM! Have you tried reseting the pcm by unhooking the battery for like 5 seconds. Try that then drive it for like a mile then if the light pops recheck it. Have you looked at you"re o2 sensors? That's why my lights on now, and its not having any performance issues.

If the mechanic is baffled, time to replace him. If he replaced all those parts hoping it would fix it, time to ask for a refund. THere is no guesswork if you follow proper troubleshooting techniques. Get AllData.com for $25 and if you can read a flow chart then you should be able to narrow it down.

Dartboard mechanics are the worst, never give them money.

+1 on above.

Do you want to fix this yourself? If so, always post the full DTC codes. There are 1000's and they each have a story to tell.

In general, a lean DTC is usually a vacuum leak, exhaust leak, dirty MAF, or clogged fuel injector.

If you are POSITIVE there aren't any vacuum leaks/exhaust leaks, then consider an injector cleaning/flow test service such as injectorRX.com. Once cleaned and tested they are as good as new. Cheaper than new.

I can also help you get a full copy of the Ford service manual. PM if interested.
