Default Check Battery Light Turns on When I Throttle Hard

My check battery light came on a few weeks ago, and I went to Sears and picked up a new battery. They also did a check on my electrical system and they said everything was fine. Anyway, the check battery light went away, but it comes on occassionally when I throttle hard. Any ideas what's going on?

Sounds like your belt is slipping.

My 2000 GT does that exact thing. I just posted the problem on the 4.6 tech page. Someone with a similar problem cured it with an alternator. I would check the belt first. However, my gage does not waiver, I wonder why that is.

Because factory gauges suck.

That would be me that cured the problem with a new alternator. I posted on the 4.6 page accidentally, but they both use the same alternator. No problems after the alternator swap.

Default Battery Light

Thanks for the postings. My light turned on Saturday. Sunday my dad checked the cells and they were dry. The light still came on, but the car ran fine. Monday on my way to work in the fog, radio said "LOW BATTERY" so I detoured to WalMart and had them install a new one for me. The light still turned on and they said it could be the alternator or a belt. On the way home, all the lights turned off (yes, it was night time on the interstate) but the car never turned off. I pulled over, called for a tow, and was given an hour wait time. During the call my lights turned back on and the car had not shut off, and I was only 6 miles from home, so I drove home without incident. Just to be safe, I'll have it checked out this week though and use another car for the next two days.
