In oilder cars when you changed the thermostat, you'd get a spike before the air purged.

In newer cars, it's a sealed system, so small animals and kids don't drink the leaks.

so this air bubble goes through the system, and causes a spike.

I had the problem on a Fiero, and it took me forever to figure out what the problem was. (Actually, it was the service dept, because I couldn't figure it out). It happened right after I changed the thermostat.

sounds like a bubble!

get it bled, or get one of the inline purge valves from Steeda.

Or just get a Rad flush, whoever does it should bleed the system.

a system cleaning might be in order as well if there is something in your line that is clogging the system it might be acting screwy. Check your low coolant sensor as well that might be malfunctioning.

It'll happen again, I guarantee it.

You can purge it yourself with a Haynes Manual.

have you tried ford? if not do a google search for "(year of stang) Ford Mustang Manual" or try amazon. I would go with ford first they "should" have it in the parts index if not they can get you one. I have a haynes manual for my car, SUCKS! I need something for detailed to I went to ford and they printed me out a 200 page (good to know parts dealer) 3.8l map from headlights to tail lights. speaking of which I think I lost that.....

Haynes is currently better. For the Fox body, in most cases teh Chiltons is better (pre-94).

but you can find the manual at any AutoZone, O'Reilley's, or even your public library (a pain in the a## to copy, but it's there . .. ).

they generally cost around 12 dollars. Money well spent.

It'll tell you what tools you need, and what you need to do. They also have a troubleshooting section, which is great in keeping garages from ripping you off.
