Default Dual Exhaust Or Gt Muffler

I have a 2005 Mustang. I want to know if I put dual exhaust will it increase horse power more than putting a GT Muffler on. Is the Dual exhaust functional or for looks. Let me just say this because I'm not sure what do I need exhaust wise to make this thing push a little? It feels like it wants to breath.

If the correct application is applied it will increase hp and torque. some increase more hp and decrease torque and some are for looks.

They made it hard for dual exhaust on a 2005 V6.

I guess you need to find an exahust kit the repilcates the GT set up, and you NEED a new bumber because I think they made a cutout for the single exahust out of a mold, which makes it virtually impossible to repliate the otherside thus it looks dumb . I mean you don't have to but for some decent appearewnce purposes.

I don't know what this GT Muffler is opposed to Pipes are. the muffler is the chamber. mostly the GT mufflers creat no sound for the v6 thus, futile to install. I'd just find an exahust kit for your V6 and get some aftermarket mufflers. Or a GT take off system, and after market mufflers.

IE Flowmaster
Magnaflow
Dynomax
MAC
Steeda

I don't know how up to date aftermarket is with v6.

So you'll need the new Piping (i'd go with an H pipe if you want the engine to breath) Mufflers and a new GT bumper and bolt it all up.

H pipe can reduce torque numbers but push up the hp. a Y to dual you gain a lil hp and torque and retain back pressure. X is prolly just a waste.

Good luck!

Go to www.magnaflow.com. They have just come out with an axle back system for the 05 V-6. It is a replacement muffler with a 3.5" polished tip. There are three sound clips on the site. It didn't sound to bad. No price was listed on the web site. Like the GT, the '05 V-6 has a pretty efficent exhaust system from the factory. The Y-Pipe is 2 1/2 inches where the individual 2" pipes running off of the manifolds join. It's made from mandrel bent tubing. Like the '05 GT, an aftermarket exhaust on the V-6 is more about noise than power because the factory systems are pretty darn good to begin with.

Alright look, if you want the dual look and the actual setup then I can help you. I have an 06 4.0 and I took the entire exhaust system off, replaced it with a magnaflow system that was made for a GT. This system came with both midpipes, two mufflers, and clamps. All these will directly bolt on with no fabrication at all. The tricky part is going to an xhaust shop to fabricate you a Hpipe. This route is not only easy, but it is also cheaper and requires less work. My whip sounds mean and growls like a freakin bulldog.

Those kits are whack and sound whack also because they connect straight to the existing Ypipe. The best route is either getting xhaust made for a GT or JBA's. Now the JBA's are probably the best route because they come with everything you need, even the Hpipe. Personally I dont like the sound of the JBA's and the tips are too small for my liking.

Oh Man! I'd read the "Introductions" forum about my 2001 with dual before you even think about doing that!
If you do, make sure the mechanic knows exactly what he's doing, otherwise you will have nothing but problems like I have!
As far as I can tell, my gas milage would probably be better without, it's for sound and looks, not for performance as far as I'm concerned! I'd think twice.....

You'll usually pick up better highway mileage, but city mileage may go down . ..

You'll also pick up some peak hp, if the sizing is correct.

It's usually a good mod completely dependent on the size -if it's too big you'll lose all around. worse mileage, worse power, worse torque.

You are probably right, most of my driving is around town. Gas mileage sucks!
The freeway isn't toooooo bad, but not all that great either.

I wonder if Phattzz stang read up on my thread with all my dual exhaust problems?
