Default '96 V6 swap to a EFI 5.0 questions

1996 V6 swap to a fuel injected 302 project

I am about to do a motor swap on 1996 Mustang with a V6 in it.

We have already built up the 302 with a new BBK-5002 intake manifold with 70mm throttle body, .030 over bore, roller rockers and cam, the whole nine yards.

What are some of the pitfalls I am about to encounter so I can try and head them off at the pass.

Things I assume have to change:
ECU computer
Motor mounts/ k-frame
multiple sensors
Bell housing adapter to the tranny ( it has a 5 speed now)
All the accessory brackets and mounts (alt., a/c, smog pump, etc)
Radiator
front springs and shocks
Air intake

I am sure there is a bit more so any help or sources for information would be great help.

Thanks in advance

Computer: yes
motor mounts: yes
sensors: Should be taken care of with the ECU
Accessories: Should be on the 302, V6 will not mount up unless you fabricate your own brackets, and bend some additional lines for the accesories, A/C is a crutch
Radiator: Same mounting point, different line locations, 3.8L will be to small to power the 302.
Suspension: your preference can retain stock
Air intake: given
Crossmember: unsure
tranny mounts: unsure

Thanks so much for your quick responce.

Will the gauges and gauge cluster have to be recalibrated or will the ECU swap address that?

Since your saying we will need to fabricate motor mounts anyways I think we will use a front and mid-plate motor mount setup (gotta love drag setups)

Are the suspensions core components such as sway bars, control arms, struts, trailing arms, etc. interchangable with 1996 GT parts? can I just buy a tubular front k-frame kit and bolt it right up to the old mount points that are already on the V6 setup?

Can I use an aftermarket pulleys and brackets setup from March instead of the factory cast "horseshoe" bracket?

Will the fuel have to upgraded or will the factory V6 pump suffice? We can jump up to a 155 or 190lpm if needed.

Does the ECU just swap over or is there a multi-pin adapter or interface required? Is that a dealership or junk yard part? does it matter I guess is what I am asking?

I can't remember but I think it has a T-5 in it but I am not possitive, were there two offered in that model year (T5,T45)?

Thanks in advance for your help

ecu will take care of that once you get that put in, only problem you might run into would be the tach and speedo, but I could be wrong. AS far as suspension goes as long as the chassie is from the same generation 94-98 and 99-04 , there might be some variation to set up, but as far as I know all suspension 94-04 is interchangable from V6 to GT and vica versa exceptions being the Cobra.
Never hurts to upgrade fuel when dropping in a bigger engine.
Has to be same genereation mustang to swap ECU.

I just found one of my friends doing this with a 302 to help save for headaches.

He buys a Plastic 302 motor, so he can find out where all the mounting will go and if he'll run into any problems, maybe it's something you like to look into so you know everything is fabricated correctly before dropping in the real 302

Good thinking on the mock up but I have a handfull of 302 blocks that we mock up with so it shouldn't be a problem.

The plastic ones are cool if ya don't mind the money

Thanks
