Question Problem with EBS pads and Brembo rotors.

I'm trying to put on some stock replacement EBS "green stuff" brake pads and stock replacement Brembo cross-drilled and slotted rotors on my 02 V6. I can't get the caliper to slide over the brake pads. There is about a 1/16th of an inch keeping me from getting these things on. Both the pads and the rotors are supposed to be the same thickness as stock. I've used a C-clamp to push the pistons in as far as they can go. I measured the rotors and they are the same thickness as my stock ones. Could the pads be too thick or am I doing something wrong? I can turn down the rotors at work if I have to. Should I consider doing that?

you shouldnt have to turn down the rotors. Did you put the spacers back in right? Maybe you should take them out and see if that works better.

I'm assuming you are referring to the shims on the back of the pads. They were pre-installed on the pads and removing them would cause tons of brake noise.

I made a typo in my first post. I don't have EBS pads, I have EBC pads.

interesting, usually they dont come preinstalled, what is the gap measurement on the caliper vs the size of the rotor?

Took the pads to work (NAPA) and matched them up against our pads with a digital micrometer. The EBC pads are exactly 1mm too thick. Thats why they won't fit. I'm trying to find out from EBC if the pads are defective or if they just suck at making brake pads for Mustangs.

I just wanted to document this...I had the same problem with EBC Red pads with EBC slotted rotors on the front of a 99 Cobra. Then about 10K miles down the road the rotor CRACKS! I'm DONE with ANY EBC products!!
