Default Head gasket question

I have a 1998 V6 mustang convertable with about 98,000 miles on it. It has its original head gaskets which show no signs of leaking yet. Do I understand correctly that there is a recall on the head gaskets on this car? Just wondering if Ford is offering a free fix that I didn't here about. My sons 1994 Cougar 3.8 V6 head gasket blew out while still under the dealers one year used vehicle warranty. Lucky for me that was only a $25.00 deductible. Thanks!!

No they will not fix it for free . The 3.8 has a reputation for the head gaskets failing . If you show no sighns then I would just leave it alone .

the 99+ 3.8L are one of the best V6 engines ford has produced for the mustang. 94-98 were the only 3.8L with HG problems.

They supposedly fixed the problem in 1998, but mine failed at 104,000.

There is no recall on 1998 3.8L cars, only the 1994-1997 3.8L.

THey did fix them for free, but I think the time has run out. Take it to the dealer and have them check for any recalls on the car, they're MORE than happy to do recall work, as they don't have to pay the employees to do it!
