Unhappy CD loads, won't play

This has been happening for a few months now. I went over a bump, and my Mach 460 system doesn't play CDs anymore.

The CD loads; the radio display switches to CD, and the play arrow shows on the CD display. But it never "reads" the CD, it doesn't find tracks or whatever. After about 15 seconds or so, it ejects the CD.

If I press FWD on the AMS button, the display will say 1, but it doesn't find track 1, and the same ejection will happen.

It happens with all CDs, even those that worked before. It happens at all temperatures and at any time in the car (so it's not condensation or heat or cold).

This happened a year ago, and after a month, it went back to working. But this has been 4 or 5 months, and I can't get it to work.

Any ideas?

I miss my CDs.

Thanks.

its possible that when you went over the bump, the wires that connect to the speakers either came off/ loose... or they could have grounded out... but its not really that big of deal... if you dont want to pull the thing out... then take it to like circuitcity or bestbuy and have them do it... i want to say like $50 or so for them to do it

Thanks for the response!

If the speakers are disconnected, wouldn't it still play the CD and I just wouldn't hear it? Would the speakers affect it not being able to read CDs?

umm... in that case it may not be a speaker wire... but i would still take it and get it looked at... iim sure a stereo shop can fix it faily cheap... this way you dont have to worry about damaging the unit... if they break it they have to fix it

My advice would be to buy an aftermarket head unit. The Mach 460 is known for being a cheap piece of s**t and is just going to keep giving you problems in the future.
