Default Porting heads and intakes

I have a 94 V6 and im tinking of porting the heads, and upper and lower intakes. should i keep the same heads and intakes or look for different ones to throw on it. I ask that cuz im paraoid about head gaskets cuz ive had to fix that issue once.

I would work with a different set of heads if you are going to port them yourself. The head gaskets should not be an issue if you use the updated or aftermarket gaskets. I know a guy that ports heads, for about $500 you can get set up with a set of heads that flow just as good as the SSM heads. If you want to port them your self and would like to buy another set to work on I have a set I will let go for cheap as well.

well i have a guy in my town that does performance work, in fact he has a 2000 or so camaro that runs about 11.5 in the quarter, so im not porting them myself. He said he would port my heads for 600 dollars. And he would do the intakes for like 250. I dont have alot of money to burn so i dont want to buy another set of heads if i dont have too.

What do u think of keeping the same intakes? i know ppl run intakes from F150s and everything else. But if mine are ported then should i even get any other intakes?

Heck, RPM-Outlet makes a set that flow better then the SP heads.

The difference is going to be in low end throttle response . .. .

You can't just swap intakes.

IF you've got split port heads, you CAN swap the 4.2L intake, but you can't use either of those intakes on a pre-99 set of heads.

THe only other choice is running a t-bird SC combination. SC intake and heads.
