Default modding a 90k mile car

Is it a good idea to mod the engine of a car that has about 91k miles? By modding it i mean get a split port intake port the upper and lower intakes and throttle body and get ported heads and a cam. Would this be ok or would it cause the engine to go? I was wondering because i want to do all this but my dad says that it will be a waste of money and that i should just buy a new crate engine.

THat's basically a top-end rebuild. The engine is duty rated at 200,000 miles.

You could just go for a low mile short block and put your new stuff on it. 3.8/4.2L shortblocks are cheap. 3-400 dollars usually for one with less than 30,000 miles.

As long as you used semi-synthetic oil, and recommended changes, the engine should be fine for a long time.
