Since i have read that gt takeoffs are the best choice for the money, i want to purchase these. But i want a deep tone, so I want to weld magnaflow mufflers in place of the factory mufflers. Is this a good idea? Has anyone heard a setup like this before on a 99+ v6? Also does anyone know if the factory mufflers are 2.5 in or 2.25 inches?

sure, lots of people do it. the factory is 2.25 -a little big, but give you room to add a bunch of power before going to a 2.5"

so you reccomend going with the 2.25 offset/offset 4x9x14 muffler? correct me if those are not the right specs please. which muffler would give me the deepest and best sounding tone? magnaflow?

just a plain 'ole GT replacement muffler.

Asking questions about subjective opinions will just get you a bunch of opinions. You're gonna haveta' listen to some clips.

Some people swear by Flowmaster, others MAgnaFLow, Some love the Ravin's. It's totally subjective.

I don't care what it sounds like, as long as it makes bang-for-buck sense, so I'm not really the one to ask . . .

i had a full SLP system but then had some problems with it...bad install, not parts. so i went to midas and they built me an all new system with the same SLP mufflers i had and it sounds great. in my opinion it is as close to sounding like a V8 u can get with a V6. i think the pipes they used are the same measurements as the GT takeoffs. moral of the story is....SLP mufflers sound good and LOUD. u can get some at www.lmperformance.com, thats where i got mine. this is the link for the system i had http://www.lmperformance.com/3513/50.html and this is the link for the mufflers http://www.lmperformance.com/5372/.
