Default ERG Error P0401 + No Cruise Control = Vacume?

Hi, I am having a wonderful time trying to both get my check engine light off and cruise control on. I have an Error Code P0401 - wnich is EGR related. I have purchased a new EGR and installed a for sure working sensor from another mustang, and the light comes back on. At the same time my cruise control stopped functioning right after I purchased the car (3.8 stock engine, manual tranny) I have therorized that maybe I do not have proper vacume in the engine, as the EGR seems to rely on this to function, given there are two hoses coming off the intake manifold. I have read in my repair manual (which is to generic, 1994 - 2004) that the cruise control may have a vacume line going to the modual in the drivers wheel well. Could vacume be causing both problems, and if not, what is the next step in Diagnosing my P0401 error code issue?

Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it after five minutes to clear the codes.

you should run the car to the shop, it should still be under warranty.

It won't fix your steering column controls -it may tell you what's causing the error with your CEL.

But no one can diagnose the problems with your steering column controls without looking at it.

If you've got a dealership there -it SHOULD be under warranty. There are NO charges. They bill Ford Motor Company.
