Ok I was in my friends garage today (guys a mechanic) and we were talking about mods. He told me that if I was to get a diablo chip, he could edit the air/fuel mixture, and get me around 40HP and 45 torque... what do yall think?
I dont think you will see 40HP... you will see about a 10% increase in HP and tq.... But i would go with a programmer and not a chip... chips are really old tech... with a programmer you will be able to adjust almost everything... and the best part about it is you can change it without having to re-flash the chip
the down side is that you will have to run the higher grade gas to get the gains . That can be costly over the long term .

OK where can I find a chip for a 98 v6? Diablo predator doesn't work on a 98...
You should call them on that.
They use predators with the ATI for 96-8.
They may not advertise them, but they should work. Call them to be sure.

you probally arent going to see any/much gains on a 87 tune.
yeah, you'd get more gains from a spacer between the upper & lower intake to increase plenum volume.

With a good tune and depending what other bolt ons you have you can get 40HP, but not with a chip, Xcal2 that way you have a couple of different tunes available to you at a moments notice. I wouldnt recommend a 87 tune thats just pointless, with most its just CO2 adjustments. Going fast cost money, if you can't afford to play, than don't, so if your worring about paying an extra 30 cents per gallon for 93 octane, sell your stang or keep it stock, and adjust your priorities.

How Do You Know What Tunes Are Best, Does Anynone Know What The Best Settings Usually Are, Or Where Can I Find Them?
You tell them what you've got on the car and it writes a program for you based on canned parameters.
They're all going to produce roughly the same numbers - fuel maps are based on physics, not magic.
For a tune FOR your car, you'd need a dynotune . . .

ok..., so lets say w/ just exhaust, and a CAI, how much would the SCT net on a 91 or 93 octane tune? cuz if its worth the gain i'd be interested.

probably 10-11 hp . . . The chips aren't worth it IMO unless you've got a cam, heads, or a power adder . ..
