Default Leaky Power Steering

Hey, anyone else have this problem? The 2 hose for the power steering are rubbing against each other, and over time, it wore down and started to leak. It leaked so bad that over one night, all the fluid was drained from the reseivor. Looks like a bad design by Ford cuz it cost me just over $200 to get the all the hoses replaced. The solution the mechanics came up with so this won't repeat in the future: put a rubber cover over the metal tube so they cant rub each other. Guess I just felt like venting for a minute. Still love my mustang, even if it leaks more than an old man with a bladder problem.

Default Hosed

Yep. What your mechanic did will solve the problem.

I've seen the same treatment on many new cars - surprised you car didn't come that way to begin with.

Angry Same Problem

Same thing happened to my sons car.....except he didn't say anything & the power steering pump heated up, melted the plastic resevior to the metal pump, siezed the shaft, exploded the pulley!

Basically had to replace the complete PS unit & hoses.

I agree, BAD engineering on FORD's part to build it that way.
PS-There is a pastic covering but it doesn't extend to where the 2 metal hoses link up.
