Default Speedometer gears, need help

We pulled our T5 transmission and rearend, will be adding 3.73 gears and rebuilding the tranny while it's out. The 97 3.8L Mustang 5 speed has the yellow speedometer gear. What color of gear would make my speedometer close to being accurate. Let me know where the can be purchased also if you can, also is there another part needed with the speedo gear to make this work?

You would need to get the computer reflashed for your gears. Any shop would do it.....

No, the 97s were still mechanical.

Just give speedcal or dallas mustang a call. You could even ask your dealer.

Hey thanks guys, Steeda seems to have the speed gears, I thought I could find a programmer for this car but I think it's like when I had my 97 f-150. Everybody fell asleep that year. I ordered the short throw shifter from steeda. Now it looks like I'll need a flywheel, since the clutch is being replaced. Order new or resurface the old, that is the question.

Replace it.

If you've spun the clutch, you've more than likely over heated the flywheel and score the surface. By turning it, you remove metal and have less to dispate heat and are more prone to warpage.

Pick up a lighter flywheel from Spec.
