Default 5th gear sounds bad, weird AC noise, CD jammed

I bought my used 04 V6 mustang with 45k miles in the beginning of June, ever since I have had some problems with 5th gear.

If I'm driving normal (in moderation under 2k) and change into 5th gear, there is a slight grinding noise, kinda like when you change to reverse when slowly rolling back, only without the jolt. I'm worried that it could ruin my overdrive eventually, has anyone else had this problem? I just hear the noise from the gear, I don't ever FEEL anything.

With the AC it sounds like there is a leaf in it or something, just has a rattle noise from the center part of the dash vents. No clue what would cause it, its been going on for a few weeks. Something come loose or something?

Also, anyone have any idea's to get a CD unjammed from the CD player? Came that way from the dealer. I guess they didn't know about it, but when I told them they offered to fix it, but I had to work and I went pass my 30 day warranty.

Need to replace your clutch or synchros -previous driver drove it hard.

2) there may be a leaf or piece of paper in there

3) no clue.

I know my clutch is going bad, but it can't be that bad. If it was that bad, I think I would have problems with the first few gears before 5th. 5th should be the less stressful for the car. Not to mention its the gear I take the longest to shift in, its overdrive, no need to throw it in.

Not necessarily . . .

it could be your clutch fork is bent from someone slamming it into gear, or it could be your throwout bearing.

But I'd still bet on the clutch .. .

My 01 does the same thing, when shifting into 5th. Mechanic said the synchro needs to be replaced. To avoid grinding, just wait 3-4 seconds before putting it into 5th.

I've been double-clutching for a month now so it won't grind..... It's one of my projects over the Winter. Not sure who has been banging gears though.

Damn, forgot to answer the CD question. Mine gets jammed every now and then too. I've found tapping on the dash just to the left of the CD player spits mine back out.

THe only reason I didn't say synchros right away, is he's only got 45K on it. So something is affecting the synchros, which I think is a bad clutch . . . Although it could be the fork, if someone's been banging the gears . . .

You are probably right ks. I notice mine does it when it has warmed up. I can get through the first few shifts in the morning, but then it starts doing it. I tried changing the fluid in it already-to no avail. Did anyone else notice the same thing?

The OEM fork is a POS. Never hurts to replace it . . .

But on my 82, it would act in a similar way when the clutch needed adjustment . ..
