Default Pacesetter H pipe and magnaflows

With the pacesetter H adapter can you bolt up any after market exhaust for the GT with it or certain exhaust only?

Will it sound good? B/c I hear on another forum that any cat back exhaust doesnt sound as good as a exhaust w/o cats and the pypes X pipe is better. I need mine for emissions so theyre staying. There they say the adapter from pacesetter will not sound as good. Also the V6 is a balanced engine so whether its X or H pipe want make a difference for it in performance but everyone swears sound wise the X is better. Everything is opposite on the other forum.

Sound is totally subjective.

By and large, pypes have been crap. They rust out easily, and have until recently been made of aluminized steel.

I don't often bash products, but Pypes are cheap for good reason.

x-h-or straight, it won't make that much different.

the mid pipe affects the undertones, not the sound directly. The "sound" comes from the muffler & tip more than anything upstream.

h-pipes generally produce a deeper undertone, because the higher frequencies cancel each other out.

X-pipes generally produce a higher pitched undertone, because the higher frequencies flow through.

Straight pipes don't cancel much of anything.

Well I want the deeper tone so Ill get the H. But I was also told that magna flows scream and borlas have a deeper tone. Will the magnaflow system sound good with an H adapter? I want a low tone not a high one. Also on the other forum I was told to get a GT bumper when switching to duals b/c ground clearance becomes an issue when you use 3in or bigger tips under a V6 bumper. Do you agree. Will a GT bumper from the junk yard be expenseve? I know painting it will.

go to mustangexhaust.com or the magnaflow site for clips.

you can cut your own holes.

Are you sure triming your bumper is a good idea? I heard some bad things about that. Most ppl seem to prefer the GT swap. Isnt there an easier way to measure the cuts for the bumper like taking measurements from a GT bumper?

Heck! take it to a body shop, it'll still be cheaper than buying a bumper cover!

Pete Campbell's 3.8L made it into Hot Rod and a few other mags running them under the bumper.

I don't think it matters much either way -it's personal preference.
