Default Slow Throttle Response

The throttle response on my car seems to be lagging a bit. It takes a while for the gears to switch and lock in. When i put the pedal to the floor it takes a second or two before it really gets down. Is there anything I can do to get a faster throttle response? thanks

Spray your MAF with computer contact cleaner.

How many miles?

If you changed the plugs and wires, you should disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, so the computer understands the resistance difference.

No, they're good for 100,000 miles in most cases.

The MAF is the tube/sensor just aft of the air cleaner.

Spray the wires in the tube with computer contact cleaner.

Not sure exaclty the issue from the description, but if you want better shifting response from your V6 auto, get a SCT x-cal tuner from Justin at VMPTuning.com... the tunes he provides will firm up your shifts and get you better response all around.

Any tuner will help, but $400+ is a lot to pay for simply better throttle response.

Well, I didn't even mention the performance gains you'll also get from a tuner... generally about 20hp/tq with the 91-93 octane performance tune. Considering this is what a lot of people pay for a true dual exhaust system and CAI together for about half the gain, it's not bad value.

then you'd have to pay for premium fuel.

I mean, if you want to bring back your throttle response, because it's degraded, that's one thing, and it's usually an easy fix.

If you want to tune, that's something else entirely.

Like I said... it was tough to tell what the issue was relative to "throttle response", but the description seemed to indicate an issue with how the shifts were happening, and a tuner will definitely help with shifts in an auto.

Well, like I said, it's difficult to know what the real issue is relative to "throttle response" since the description seems to indicate something on how the car is shifting, and a tuner will definitely help with that. If you don't want to pay for premium fuel, you can use an 87 octane performance tune that Justin would provide with the tuner. The shift points are still improved, but you won't feel all the performance benefits the higher octane tune would provide.

(Sorry, double posted by accident when I went in to edit.)

I think the point that kscoyote was making is this guy just wants to get back the reponse he had before , I agree first place to start would be to clean the MAF.
Justin is a great tuner he will be tuning my monster when I get it ready .

well..i bought diablo predator but it doesnt work on my 2004 V6 mustang i contacted the tech support and they said that they mistakenly mentioned it in their website that it will work on my model but it will take few months till the tune is developed so till then its just a expensive scanner for me ;( ...i need to ask one more thing..i just got my car lowered one inch and bought new 17" rims with 245/45 tyres now the problem is that my car shakes when i go above 70 miles and if i apply hard brake it skids to right plus the ride is stiffer...any suggestions..

You need to take it to a front end shop and have it aligned , also sounds like you may have a wheel out of balance , that is probably causing the shaking .
