Me? No, not really. I just want a car with some more go. This is my first experience doing mods as such and what better car to do it with than a Mustang. I have been pm'ing Lee back and forth on which direction to go with things. It helps me to get the right starting point. It's kind of like your post on internet chatter. I don't want someone to tell me to buy this or that. Just some guidance. I know I have help some here already. That's what it is all about. Okay, I'll get off the box. Any thoughts on headers Guys? I would need them to directly fit on my current exhaust setup. I don't want to start patching stuff up. Everything is stock to the cats.

Are they a direct fit? Something that I can do in a couple hours? Oh wait, what about the EGR valve? Do I also need the EGR delete kit? I believe the EGR is fed off of the left manifold.....

Check with local laws before you do it. You won't get much from them, unless you do a cam swap.

MACs stuff is notoriously hard to install, but you can do it. Go for high quality gaskets.

What's your goal? You really need a goal and a budget before going half-cocked .. .

My goal is around $5000 or so. I know the SC/Dyno project will be around there, but some cash for the girdle has already been set aside. In fact, I'm ordering it today. The SC will be a Winter project when there is 4 feet of snow on the ground. As far as headers, I wouldn't mind putting them on, but I don't want to be in the middle of the project only to find out they are too short or too long. They need to go exactly where the exhaust is now. If not, then they will go on at a later date.

Ok, you've got the budget, but what do you want it to be when you're done?

350 hp road&track?

400+ hp Street/Drag?

All around street?

It's going to be a daily driver..... That's why I don't want to overkill it with hp because I put alot of mileage on yearly. If I wanted drag, I would be going in a different direction with internal mods building a bulletproof motor. The car owes me nothing right now. If the SC works well and something lets go in the motor, I would probably pick up a newer used motor, (02-04) bolt on the SC, and go.....

ok, got it.

for the $5,000 -

shore up your chassis, if you haven't already -subframe connectors, rear sway bar, and front brace -pick up the SC, don't forget they dynotune you're gonna need -usually around $500. and a rear girdle, & an Auburn or Detriot Locker LSD.

After that,

There's three ways to go - or use some combination

1) lighten the car with CF aftermarket seats, etc.

2) lighten your rotating assemblies driveshaft, flywheel, pulleys, etc.,

3) improve airflow -Bigger MAF, Throttle body, etc.

1&2 will improve mpg & handling, 3 will pay dividends in power, but you'll still have to drag around 2-400lbs in extra weight.

ks,

1. The MAF is going to be 78mm.
2. The flywheel will get changed when the clutch gets done. Maybe the same weekend. I know I'll burn it up when the SC gets installed. I still have the original at 82k and I'm no lightfoot.
3. The dyno and chip costs $450.00. Already called the local speed shop. My only concern is the speed shop is 35 miles away. Why chip it from the SC distributor, then have them reprogram it again. Double cost. Not sure about that, any ideas?
4. I don't think you answaered the headers thing

Tom

You might also want to plate and weld up the torque boxes .

They used to sell two -one with EGR, the other without. I'm haven't been interested in them, so I can't tell you what the product line is anymore. They are not a direct fit, they will bolt up fine to the heads, but they'll require some fabrication aft of the headers.

I don't know the setup of your dyno shop. You'll need the program from ATI to limp in to your dynotune, unless you trailer it.

If you chip it, sell the programmer on e-bay.

that's the rear gear ratio.

THe number is the number of times the rear wheel moves for every turn of the driveshaft.
