Default Getting new exhaust.

I am getting a new custom exhaust put on my 2004 V6 mustang tomorrow at a muffler shop.
They want to cut the existing pipe at the "Y" and attach the new exhaust from there.
So, the exhaust will come from two pipes into one, and then back into two 2.25" pipes.
I ordered a 42% UD pulley and will be buying a CAI soon also.
My only other plans are for stage2 heads and a new cam shaft (not sure what kind, not getting it for about 3 months) and possibly ported lower and upper intakes.
Will this exhaust system be okay for these mods?
I will not be running at any tracks, I just want more get up and go.

What kind of HP could I expect at the wheels with the 42% UD pulley, CAI, heads, and ported upper and lower intakes?

Could I maybe beat my bosses Nissan 350Z?

Thanks.

Hey tx, You may want to stay to 2 pipes all the way back..... It will bottleneck when it goes back into one pipe as it does now..... Maybe I misunderstood what you were going for, but the exhaust is 2.5" up to the "y." Most people go with 2.25 or 2.5 all the way back..... It will make a difference having them cut the pipes right after the cats and keeping it 2 from there, especially if you are doing mods like the intake and heads..... Tom

If you want to beat that 350Z, you're gonna need that camshaft and stage two heads for sure.

If you are CERTAIN you're going to do that, throw out the Y-pipe and go true dual exhaust.

go with 2.25" exhaust unless you plan on doing more -4.2L rotating assemble, or some type of power adder -in which case you should consider taking a short term hit, and go with 2.5" or larger -depending on how far you want to go.

Just got my Mustang back from the muffler shop and WOW.
I was worried that it would sound like crap, but it sounds great!
I got true dual exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers for $300.
