Default Rear End Fluid Replacement

Guys, I got my stud girdle in today, and will be installing it tomorrow. Do you have any recomendations as to what to use? Do I go synthetic? If so, what's the best out there? Thanks as always.....

Well the job is complete. Went in no problems, no shavings in the housing. The only problem I ran into was not having enough gear oil. I read my manual and it said the rear end takes 3 pints of fluid. I knew the T/A girdle was going to take more, but 6 quarts? Holy s***!!!!!! Three trips to the auto parts store..... It feels much better though. I did go with synthetic.....

If you put in 6 quarts you have overfilled it , it should only hold 3 quarts with the Girdle, and one bottle of friction modifier

Hey GT, I wasn't sure, and the instructions told me to add it until it comes out the filler hole as with most axles. The fluid that came out was pretty bad and there wasn't much in it. First time I changed the fluid in it. Anyway, what should I do now?

On the front side of the axle (Driveshaft side ) there is a fill plug it's about half way up . thats where you should fill it up too , my guess is that you filled it up from the fill hole on the girdle . So you need to get a pan open up the fill plug on the front and let it out until it's
level with the front fill hole not the girdle fill hole .

I'm new to the sports car scene and I don't understand what you mean by "girdle". Can someone let me know?

I just got my mustang a few months ago and I'm new to the sports car scene. I was into sport bikes for the last few years.

Here is a pic of the 8.8 rear T/A girdle , the purpose of the girdle is too hold force on the bearing caps to keep them from flexing .
