Default cylinder 3 misfire - which one is 3?

i need to trace trhe problem back from the sparkplug but i dont know which one is the 3rd cylinder on the block, sounds like a stupid question but does anyone know which cylinder is cylinder 3?...thanks

If you're looking at the engine, it's the back left one, passengerside by the firewall.

yea it was P0303 which read out as cylinder 3 misfire. Its probly just the spark plug or distrubutior cap...i hope... cause i really dont want to fix a burnt out valve or anything. thanks for the help

I hate say it have you been riding it hard? If so you vals may be the prob sorry(I areadly had to replace a friends in his early 99 3.8 and it stuck.)

yeah, 10 years old => time for a tune up. plugs, wires, and (maybe) the coil pack -but the pack is more durable than distributors . ..

thanks but turns out i blew my head gaskets... and since ford suggested aluminum heads for my mustang i had to rip out my heads and get themn machined. talk about a big job right. I am practacally rebuilding my engine but like u said...no better time for a tune up.

3# and #6 seemed to be the ones that cause the most problems.

I have a 99 with 140K on it. Every few months I have to replace a plug wire. Don't really know why but when it starts missing I run a code check which tells me which cylinder. I replace the wire and it's smooth again.

doesn't make sense, you may have a bad connection that's arcing & burning the wire.

speakin' about sparkplugs, how many miles should you go before changing them? I have approximately 95,000 miles on my 96' 3.8. What would ya'll recommend? Thanks in advance

the v6 has special connectors, you can't use any generic wires. That may be the cause of your problem . ..
