Default Wheel suggestions for '01

Newbie poster here. I have a 2001 v6 zinc yellow, 5 sp manual, that I bought brand new five years ago. Everything in it is stock, and I've become tired of the way my wheels look. Now that I need new tires, I want to get rid of the stock wheels and get some nice looking ones.

I'm interested in looks, but I don't want to sacrifice performance. I don't want to get too exotic either... I want something that looks classy and not cheap, without spending a lot of money.

What size of wheel do you recommend? And what tire size to go with it? Should I worry about the spare? I'm familiar with TireRack.com as I bought tires from my wife there and I was happy wuth the experience, but I'm open to other retailers you may suggest. Thanks!!!!

You might want to look at AmericanMuscle.com.

Here are the wheels you also might look at:

17"X10.5 Polished 2003 Cobra Wheels for the back [View]
17"X9 Polished 2003 Cobra Wheels for the front [View]

For the tires, I'd do about 255/40-17 for the back, and the 245/45-17 for the front.

Thank you Choppa. I noticed that AM.com has lower prices than TireRack.com. I'm concerned about being able to easily rotate all tires, so I'll probably go with the 17x9 and 225/40-17 for all four. If AM.com does the mounting and balancing for me, and then ships the package to my house, I should be able to install everything myself, right?

Check out the weights of the wheels, you shouldn't go much more than 21 lbs.

More will suck all the torque out of the engine.

Also, some of the knockoffs are less durable than those made by Ford Racing, which have more stringent durability requirements since they are designed for the street.

Check out Ford Racing wholesalers like www.gefracing.com or www.buyfordracing.com.

Thank you KSC. I'll check those websites out, as well as the weights. I noticed many places give "shipping weight," which probably includes all the packing, etc., so I'll have to call them to find out actual weights. Have a good weekend.
