I routinely get 36mpg highway, but I'm running underdrivers, no spare tire, a K&N, and rarely use the brakes and air conditioning. I also run more air in the tires.
The brakes really eat up energy . . . converts momentum to friction heat. If you can use the cruise buttons instead of brakes/accelerator, you'll pick up quite a bit of highway MPG.
