Default Need Clutch Advice, Guys

My throwout bearing is dying a quick death and I need to stab in a new clutch. I would get a Centerforce Dual Friction if this were a perfect world, but I find myself short on cash. Summit is selling their Zoom clutch for $190; is there anywhere that I can find a Centerforce for that range? And if not, will I be happy with the Zoom? All I need is something stock or slightly better. Thanks in advance, guys.

While you have it open, pick up a Spec lightened flywheel, and a Spec matched clutch.

And if you get the aluminum flywheel you can bolt up a 10.5 " clutch and some some money there and get a higher rated clutch

Appreciate the advice. I think I'm gonna go cheap for now with just the clutch, then upgrade seriously later. Nothing like pacing yourself...

Hey GT and KS, What do you suggest for a clutch in my application? Don't want to spend 1k, but want better than stock for the hp gain. Tom

You won't get hp on the clutch -the rotating mass that kills performance & sucks the torque out of the engine is in the flywheel.

The performance clutches available are Spec and Centerforce. I thought McLeod had a clutch, too, but I can't find it.

Mcleod has one but my experience is they glaze quickly at least it did on my set up.
Shinerstang if you really want to do something cool , get the spec aluminium flywheel , and get the spec stage 2+ 10.5" clutch , you will loose rotating mass from the flywheel and the clutch plus thats all the clutch you would ever need.

No KS, I was talking about the hp gain when the SC goes in. I want it to last given the hp increase.

Thanks Gary. I was going to go aluminum, but was a little confused about the exact set-up for my application. The rotating mass kind of pisses me off when shifting.

Some of that is in the tune , some is in the rotational mass .

Oh yeah, I forgot about the winter project!

I'd go with Spec.

It will take some getting used to, because the revs will fall a LOT faster than usual -but If you can find an SVT Focus or Cobra on a used car lot to "test drive", you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

When I took the Focus on the test drive, the sales person was warning me about it -but I learned to shift on a Dirt Bike, so it felt more natural than anything with a heavy flywheel.

yeah, the tune keeps the revs up for emissions purposes.
