Post Hi everyone, proud new owner

I just bought me a 2002 V6 vert and I love it! I have a lot questions but I will ask just 2 of them for now. I was wondering if it is normal for converts doors make a lot of noise while driving on slightly bumpy roads? it makes like a rattle noise. I remember an old friends Iroc convert made the same noise and he was told that it was because the doors are heavy with powerwindow motor, locks etc.. So now its 2002 and things have gotten smaller and lighter but I still hear that rattle noise... what can be done to get rid of that noise? Also is it the norm for wind noise to be heard in Mustangs or does that comes with having a convert?? I love the car and I wont get rid of it cuz of those small faults but would like to know if I could at least minimize the noises. I plan to upgrade the sound system and all around and make some small mods done to the engine and body nothing too big because as one member here put it... "The Mustang is perfect as is" thanks for any advice.

P.S. I noticed in the morning is rattles more that it does when it warmer later in the day

I have a vert as well and the first thing you need to do is get some subframes welded in. The vert has so much flex to it, its not even funny.

When I had mine welded in it made a night and day difference.

Subframes are what are used to tie the front end of the car to the rear. Basically turns your unibody to a full frame car. Subframes are welded into place along the bottom of the car.

You can go here and scroll down and you'll see some on the bottom of my car.

http://www.gotstang.com/profile.php?...=1&page=5#jump

You can shocks are bad by pushing down on the car and if the car bounces up and down its time to replace them. If it returns back to it position with no other movement there fine.

Sounds like to me your most interested in corning and running autocross down the road. What I suggest is some good aftermarket springs to lower the car and descent shocks and struts to compliment the springs. Subframes are a must though.

Wow dapack69 that looks like a lot of work you had done on her!
I noticed your subframes, are the expensive to add on??? I will look into doing that soon. As for fast corning and stuff I kinda like it, but since it moves like that I'm worried I could lose control. So I will most likely have to slow down like a lil old lady around the curves. Thanks for the information and I will have to check my shocks out like you said this morning and upgrade my suspension system sometime down the road.

Cost of them to be welded on depends on the shop. I paid $80 in labor to have mine installed.

Thanks for the compliment.

around here standard shop rate is $45 an hour and you can make your own sub frames for way way less then what you would to buy them.

You happen to have a write up on how to make your own?

I've seen some subframes on ebay, I don't know how to judge on the quality or the average price range. I've been reading some post about being careful of buying cheap priced stuff on ebay. I've only bought a few things on ebay nothing over $60 dollars. Some of the things I'm seriously concidering buying are well over that and that causes me to pause. Dapack69 your ride has given me something to shoot for I can tell you put a lot of time, energy, and dough into your car. I don't know if my ride would ever make it to the ranks as yours but it still gives me something to be jealous about LOL!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I will post pics of the before, during, and after of my new project. As well as my broke wallet

yeah, subframe connectors AND your clips are probably broken. If someone changed the stereo speakers, and didn't replace the clips, they can get bent, and won't hold the panel tightly to the frame.

I paid $60 . .. it'll vary according to the shop and the region . . . one shop gave me an estimate of $250. -to take up the carpeting, seats, etc., but it's not necessary.

You should also pick up a GT takeoff rear sway bar at a minimum, if you like the corners.

It'll settle down the rear end.

Ask for the weight, and if you can get them zinc coated, do it.
