Default studdering problem with a 3.8

well i have a bit of a problem with a 2002 mustang 5 speed with the 3.8L. so the problem is when you go to accelerate at any speed the engine studders, like it wants to go and then doesn't but then does again. and the problem started after my sister used it a college, but if you keep the rpms higher then 3000 it doesn't studder.

Here are a couple things to check out:

1. Plug wires/plugs
2. Mass Air Sensor-can be cleaned with contact cleaner.
3. Clogged fuel filter
4. Coil pack

5. Dirty fuel injectors
6. Water in the gas tank.
7. Dirty throttle body.
8. Anything blocking the air filter? paper, plastic, etc.
9. Plugged PCV valve.
10. Vacuum hose off somewhere.

I know I missed a million other things. I just thought of these after I posted the first time. It sounds of more like a "miss" than anything else. I would start with the electrical first.

it has new plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter. I have been running that fuel system cleaner in it for the past 2 tanks, throttle body is clean. On the coil pack from the top left-right and then from the bottom left-right whats the firing order, when i was changing the plugs are wire my dad just pulled the wires off the pack and he put the new ones on, so i just want to make sure. i don't think there is any water in the gas.

Before you go out and buy anything. Pull the plugs to see which cylinder is not firing properly. Also, what type of wires did you use? I know some people have had problems with wires after they replaced them. Try starting the car and pulling each wire to see if the skip changes. When you pull one, the car should run worse.

yeah, the six uses different connectors.

Also, the resistance may be off (Did you disconnect the battery when you changed the wires and plugs?)

they are autolite wires and the plugs are all firing, and i didn't disconnect the battery, but something came to mind today when i was racing a friend home from school and it is the 3.8 on this year has those butterfly valves on the short runner side of the intake and well at about 2,000 rpm the is when this happens and i am thinking that the studdering is from the valves not opening corretly or opening and the way they are opening is effecting the acceleration making it studder.
