Default Next big mod, what should I do?

Alright, I have a paycheck comming in at the end of the month and I am plannin on doing a big mod. The problem is I am hung between a few options.

1.) I could get port and polished upper and lower intake manifolds and roller rockers.($825 for parts)

2.) I could get port and polished heads and roller rocker.($775 for parts)

3.) I could get 3.73 gears, ford racing posi-trac, and the roller rockers.($600 for parts but install fees are a b**** here)

with any one of these options I plan on getting a custom tune and I plan on stiffening it up with sub-frames and srut tower later. The gears would probally give me the most 1/4 mile gains but I do a lot of highway driving and I like my gas mileage so I am kinda iffy about them. I know sombody's going to say it, but no I am not getting N2O. Any thoughts or ideas are appriciated.

I would suggest gears and Traction lock. IF you have an open diff and build much more power it won't do you any good.

If you get the gears, factor in a chip.

you're going to need the chip/programmer if you do a PnP.

If it were me, I'd do the traction-lok (safety and traction), chip/programmer, and go ahead and do the subframe connectors (longevity of the chassis).

I have a programmer so thats taken care of. Like I said in the near future I am planning on getting sub-frame connectors and strut tower. How much am I looking at to have the gears and t-lock installed? I will lose about 2mpg with these installed correct? Would the roller rockers fit in well with my mods? Lastly, 1.73 or 1.8 roller rockers, on the site it said not to use 1.8's if you are doing any major work like a port n' polish?

1) 250 install + 100 +-for both. I got quotes ranging from 250-600 dollars for the install on my trak-lok. I chose the $250. To swap gears while it's open should be another $100 or so.

2) yeah 2 +-

3) the 1.8s are good only if you're not planning a cam swap . .. but the geometry's a little off. Better for longevity to get the 1.7s.

The RR at your present power level are poor bang for the buck , I would wait until you decide to do a cam . Like KS said the rear T-lock and gear swap would be a good move , and I would also add a T/A girdle to that list.

I am not going to do a cam swap (a motor pull doesn't look to fun to me). A T/A girdle??? fill me in. If the install for the t-lok and gears is $350 I may only add in subframe connectors. I found some kenny brown's for $100 bucks at rpmoutlet, is there cheaper.

You don't have to pull the motor to change the cam . Here is some info on the Girdle http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv6rockers.htm

correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like it will help protect the longevity of my rear end and operate at a lower temp. Does it do much for performance?

not much, but you won't have to worry about it breaking.

Also running cooler translates into slightly more power to the wheels (from less friction) but not that you'd notice.

The big thing is you've got to plan the thing out.

Getting the car ready for power is boring, but it pays off in the end.

I've read that an underdrive pulley set can give you a small % of gas mileage increase and also a little bit of HP. Here's one that I have already ordered, just waiting for it to come in now. Its the entire kit, 3 pulleys and a new belt.

Under drive pulley set - $135.00

point taken. It would install with the posi-trac and the gears without much extra cost right? BTW, finally switched out my fuel filter and it stopped pinging .

Not much extra cost on th install (like 10 minutes to preload the caps.
