Question Poor Throttle Response

I have a 94 mustang 3.8L with poor throttle response. Are there any inexpensive tricks or tips to improve throttle response?

Is it "poor" in comparison to other 3.8's or in general poor?

Is it a manual or automatic?

When was the last time it had a tune up?

Yea man the 94-98 3.8s are weak (GTs arn't much better ). What do you want the car for, daily driver? Or are you trying to show off with it?

My goal is somthing noticable and thats quicker then ricers (civics, preludes etc.). I also have a limit for how much money I will put towards perfomance mods.

$1,000. Thats it, you can only get so much out of a 3.8 man, and it was cost around $4,000 to keep up with the same year GT.

Dual exhaust (flows) = $350
Intake = $50
X-pipe ( getting it custom built tomorrow )= $150
Subs+amp ( I know, but still money thrown into the car) = $400

Thats not including the $1,000 I spent in tires already.

And my car still gets beat by little zx2s and other garbage rides.

Just know what you want to do before you start (potentially) throwing money away.

the first thing to do is check all your filters -fuel, air, etc, spray your MAF with contact cleaner, and make sure your coil, plugs, and wires are good, and change your PCV valve.

Next, if you're interested, pick up a set of underdriver pulleys (unless you have a lot of ICE equipment). Then pick up a K&N Drop in filter.

For pick up off a stop, the biggest thing is your gearing. You have tall highway gears. If you change your gearing, you'll notice a big difference.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve.

If it's plugged, it can cause problems with driveability.

It's located on the valve cover.

It's inside the collar right behind the air filter.

Thanks ks.
Drench it from both sides. you'll have to disconnect it to do it -and while it's disconnected, go ahead and spray the connections on top.
